The real question is whether or not you think that those attributes are worth more than the automaton.  The automaton is getting buffed in the patch as well.  The Melee frames are getting much higher defense so that they're not taking 60000 damage per hit.  That paired with very potent repair oils (Further strengthened by AF feet and Ob Earring), could let them live indefinitely.  Potentially even against something like a Salvage Chariot when meleeing (ignoring TP concerns).

Currently, the damage between master / automaton is around 30/70 %.  In a merit party on mamool, I've rivaled a new 75 MNK and 75 DRK in damage output... this was before a lot of Enkidu, using mostly relic.  With the usukane I've picked up, and the better weapons, merits, gear (omfg pantin cape), I would be interested to parse it against an actual LS DD.

I wouldn't anticipate beating anyone as a PUP, but I'd at least like to think I could keep up with Tramp's help.  (Although, a big concern would be subjobs with A ranked H2H... it may mean /NIN is necessary over /WAR)

Though I don't know much about PUP because I've never levelled it it sounds like you have a point about at least keeping up. I personally would be interested in seeing your parse results vs an ls DD after the update.

I think it's completely situational depending on what lvls 76-99 bring. They are making automaton's stronger defensively and have stated they want to reduce the recast on activate as well as make it easier to heal them, so that should help us keep them out at all times. MNK has the advantage of more martial arts, some better gear (Destroyers, BB), and better natural DD/tanking JA's (Focus, Dodge, Counterstance), PUP will be gaining more advantages from SJ's, including all of MNK's offensive/defensive JA's provided we sub MNK. Also, Stringing Pummel is better then Asuran Fists and with the A in H2H, PUP's should be able to dish out large amounts of damage to even it out. Hell PUP may even get Asuran Fists now. Also, with the new ability to augment existing weapons, we could take things like Hades Santi and turn them into Destroyers+10 to even the score. It will certainly be an exciting year.

Actually... Once Neo comes back, and the cap is 85 at that point, we can hopefully take quite a few shots at PW (if we decide to go back and do more ZNMs), and make that not Destroyers versus Sainti, but Shenlongs versus Shenlongs.

B+ still isn't bad. Plus if you factor in the automaton damage AND the fact that Stringing Pummel is a better ws then Asuran Fists, it should make quite the match up. They probably were going to make it A or A- but some JP MNKs committed suicide so they opted to lower it for those that get way too emo over retarded shit.

Yeah, full +1 base damage too, basically +2 more easily as well. Beggars can't be choosers, and honestly, I never really thought that we needed the H2H increase!

That paired with the Automaton increases are pretty sick sweet though... I'm actually wondering if Tramp could tank a chariot if I spammed oil+2s
